Now for the main trophies, 5 Trophies were awarded as listed below:-

Goal of the Season:- Matt Beer, Matty B's goal was shear class. Turning and lobbing the keeper from 30 yeards was something worth watching on TV.

Golden Boot:- Shaun Hasting, Shaun had a great season scoring 20 goals.

Most Improved Player:- Mark Tattersall, This was a bit of a surprise for some people as Mark has been the keeper for 2 seasons but this award is to show how far the once Striker has come to a fantastic keeper.

Managers Player:- Antony "Oscar" Thorne, This was a hard decision to get the right man for the trophy. It was down to 4 players that could have took this one but I felt Oscar had the edge on the others. His commitment to the team, effort he puts in during all games not only physical but verbal makes him a well deserved winner and great captain.

Players Player:- Shaun Hastings, As voted for by the players, Shaun is without doubt an worthy winner of this award, he has had a great season and has been very consistant on the pitch. The effort he puts into each match and the goals he has scored has made him stand out to the other players.

After the awards were handed out it, it was time to have some buffet food supplied by the Anchor and then downstairs to take over the Karaoke until kick out time.

Well done to all those that won an award and it has been a great season and I have fully enjoyed ever minute of it. Roll on next season & Roll on some Cups.

Athletico Borough v Anchor Chiefs FC

League Match No. 14 (Final Game)

Posted 22/03/2010

Last game of the season for the Chiefs and not the best start to the morning having 2 1st players not playing. Chiefs started well but was always under pressure from a solid Athletico Borough. You can tell a lot of these players play a high standard in the Saturday League. With all this in mind it was the Chiefs that made the break through with a goal from this season Golden Boot winner Shaun Hastings bagging his 20th goal of the season in the first 10 minutes. After that Athletico kept coming but the Chiefs back line held strong and a string of fantastic saves from Chiefs keeper Mark Tattersall kept the lead until half time. Halt Time Score 0 - 1

Second half was going to be a lot different, Chiefs manager warning his team they will come out stronger in the 2nd half and that they did. Having good strength on the bench helped Athletico and Chiefs with players missing really felt it in the second half. Was not long before Athletico made it all square with a goal in the 8th minute followed by taking the lead in the 13th minute. 5 minutes later it was 3 - 1 to Athletico. The use of the fresh legs helped them alot and the heroics of the Goalkeeper and back 4 was starting to dwindle. 2 more goals came from Athletico on the 35th and 42nd minutes.

Chiefs Manager " What a great start we had, the whole team was pushing hard when they had the chance and the back 4 and keeper was fantastic, midfield were strong and the front man playing well, the first half was fantastic but the second half was the complete opposite. Athletico had 3 subs all good players and they made a big difference, Athletico Manager knew the 2nd half was going to be theirs but praised our lads for their commitment. We have played Athletico 7 times this season and they always know they are on for a battle against us, playing a team that strong is great experience for us. This season is now ended and again we have bettered ourselves and I personally am grateful to all ours players for the commitment they have shown to the club and to me. Its been a honour being your boss again for another season...well done lads!!!"

Final Score 5 - 1 (Shaun Hastings 10)

Man Of The Match:- Mark Tattersall

Anchor Chiefs FC v Real Tuff

League Match No. 13

Posted 07/03/2010

Another local derby for the Chiefs against who we consider are friends and always a good match with plenty of good banter. Chiefs started strong but could not finish the numerous chances they had. Real Tuff back 4 was under pressure a lot of the time but they held strong like they always do. The breakthrough came when Chiefs Leading Goal Scorer Shaun Hastings netted his first of the day in the 31st minute. Real Tuff had a couple of chances but the 1st half was good for the Chiefs but the lack of finishing was what kept the score line down to 1 nil. Half Time Score 1 - 0

2nd half saw the Chiefs play a lot more tactical and made the pitch as wide as possible and kept the ball moving along the ground. This seamed to suit the Chiefs and it was not long before Mick Harrison hit the back of the net in the 6th minute, 2 minutes a ball a well struck ball fizzed into the area cause the Real Tuff Defender to knock it in his own net for the Chiefs to take a 3 nil lead. Hastings was on target again with a well taken goal on the 19th minute. A penalty was awarded to the Chiefs in the 25th minute and Centre Back Tom Berry was told to take this and he smashed it in the back of the net. Berry, a new father of 3 days then celebrated his goal by pretending to rock a baby in his arms. The Chiefs continued to push hard but was not taking the chances that come along. A penalty was then awarded to Real Tuff in the 38th minute, where Kev "finally got a goal" Beer took the Tom Berry route and smashed the goal past Chiefs Keeper Mark Tattersall. Super Sub Martin "Beerson" Beer came on and was sent to play Left Wing but only has 2 right feet, but it was not long before he had his chance to bag his 1st ever Anchor Chiefs League Goal in 2 seasons in the 43rd minute.

Chiefs Manager "A good game for us today, I always enjoy our games as the banter with some of the Rugby boys is great especially Jamie "King of the Banter" Morris who never stops. We showed some good football today especially in the 2nd half, the movement was good and the overall team play was fantastic. Again I think we would have had a lot bigger score line if we were more clinical with our finishing and this will be something that we can work on in Pre Season. Overall a good game for us and thanks to the Real Tuff lads who always make it a good day."

Final Score 6 - 1 (Shaun Hastings 31 & 64, Mick Harrison 51, Own Goal 53, Tom Berry(Pen) 70, Martin Beer 88 )

Man Of The Match:- Shaun Hastings

Bideford Robins v Anchor Chiefs FC

League Match No. 12

Posted 28/02/2010

A big game for the Robins especially after we slipped up with U Can Store. As always with this local derby it was a great game. Same as with the last few games now the Chiefs started strong and scored in the 8th minute with another great strike from Shayne Voisey and lobbing the keeper on his own line from 25-30 yards away. It was not long before the Robins made things all square again with a goal 4 minutes later. Plenty of chances went by for both teams as they battled hard for the edge but it was not to be. Half Time Score 1 - 1

2nd half started well for the chiefs as Shaun Hastings broke free and scored in the 2nd minute but again the Robins came back to square things up 4 minutes later. Some great football by both teams and the passing and movement was something special today. Robins took the lead on the 24th minute but this time it was the Chiefs turn to square things up on the 39th minute when Shayne Voisey got his 2nd of the day. Chances where there for both teams and saves from both keepers were keeping their teams in the game. Right on the last minutes a close range shot was saved by Chiefs Keeper Mark Tattersall and then followed by a fantastic reaction save to keep it all square.

Chiefs Manager "What a great game today, I really did think we was going to edge this match but then thought we might loose it too. Fantastic game of football by both teams today. At the end of the day a draw was a fair result for both teams. The improvement in the team is noticeable each week now. This week I could not bring myself to name a man of the match as there were too many of you. Today lads you did yourself proud. I am happy to see the teams above us not thinking we are a walk over and we have shown that every time. Well done Lads, well happy with today's performance"

Final Score 3 - 3 (Shayne Voisey 8 & 47, Shaun Hastings 84)

Man Of The Match:- Too many to call this week

Anchor Chiefs FC v U Can Store FC

League Match No. 11

Posted 28/02/2010

Strong start by the chiefs saw them take the lead in the 2nd minute with a great lobb over the oncoming keeper by Shayne Voisey. The lobb was soon beaten when Matt Beer spun and lobbed the keeper from well outside the penalty area in the 18th minute. Half Time Score 2 - 0

Second half was a different story, we seamed to stop playing the solid football and gave them far to much room to move the ball about. U Can Store scoring in the 16th minute. A very poor last 10 minutes gave U Can Store the 3 points with a goal in the 42nd minute and a very scrappy goal on the 50th yes that's right 50th minute.

Chiefs Manager "Sorry for the short match report but I totally forgot about this and only remembered today when I was doing the Robins Game report. Bad day for us, really bad last 10 minutes but playing an extra 5 minutes was unreal, no idea where the Ref got that from. Having 2 goals disallowed was bad for us, granted the 1st one was debatable but the 2nd was clearly onside but what can you do if the linesman is going to cheat. Shame we let them have the 3 points as they did not deserve it..... unlucky lads"

Final Score 2 - 3 (Shayne Voisey 2 & Matt Beer 18)

Man Of The Match:- Martin Ashton

Anchor Chiefs FC v Athletico Borough

League Cup Quarter Final

Posted 07/022010

A good start from the Chiefs was needed today and is exactly what they got. A great ball into the box left a goal mouth scramble which was pushed in eventually by Chiefs Captain Antony "Oscar" Thorne in the first minute. Both teams battled well with some good football being played but a goalkeeping error caused the equaliser for Athletico, Keeper Mark Tattersall mistiming his jump for a high ball causing it to come off his finger tips and go behind him for a Athletico player to poke it in on the 11th minute. This did not stop the Chiefs from pushing on, not allowing there heads to drop then started putting some great passes together when the ball dropped to Matt Hatten, a great half volley strike on the edge of the area saw the ball thunder pass the keeper into the back of the net for the Chiefs 2nd goal on the 18th minute. The battle continued with good football on display. Another error gave Athletico another equaliser, when the ball running towards Chiefs Centre Half Martin "Pidg" Ashton took an horrible bobble as he was about to clear the ball causing him to miss it completely and allowed the Athletico player to slot it passed the Keeper in the 35th minute. Half Time Score 2 - 2

2nd half was another great display by both teams but without any goals being scored. Chiefs had many chances but could not convert. Chiefs leading goal scorer and Man of the Match Shaun Hastings had a 1 on 1 with the keeper 5 minutes from time but hit it over the bar. This game went into extra time. Full Time Score 2 -2

Extra was something new for the Chiefs but they continued to battle on. 1st 15 minutes went by with neither team managing to convert their chances into a goal. 2nd 15 minutes was a serious battle of fitness but when the chance came, Athletico took it in the 2 minute. Athletico scored another scrappy goal in the 5th minute. Not downhearted by this the Chiefs carried on pushing hard by still lady luck was not on their side and the chances came and went until the final whistle. After Extra Time 2 - 4

Chiefs Manager "What a fantastic effort by every single player today, you was all man of the match with the effort and commitment shown today. Everyone put in a great shift today and yes we lost but that score line does not show the real game. We was seriously unlucky and should have done the job before extra time. Another game for us all to learn from. There is not many times where a Manager is happy with his team after loosing a cup game 4 -2 but this is one of them occasions, without them errors which happens, that's football, we would have walked away winners. Even Athletico's Manager shook my hand and said "Its always a great battle when we come here, you were unlucky today". Well done lads, keep your heads held high as you all did fantastic."

Final Score 2 - 4 AET (Antony Thorne 1 & Matt Hatten 28)

Man Of The Match:- Shaun Hastings

Anchor Chiefs FC v Anchor FC

Hansen Cup Quarter Final

Posted 28/01/2010

What a nightmare we had! After the minibus breaking down and the lads having to walk from Torrington Common to the pitch, we finally got this game going. Chiefs started very well and applied some early pressure which the Anchor back dealt with. Ali Davidson pulled up with groin strain after 15 minutes shook the team up abit but we continued to play well. To be fair to both teams it could have gone either way but Anchor got the break through from a freekick on the 40th minute. Sloppy goalkeeping cost the Chiefs when Anchor bagged their 2nd on 42 minutes. 2 nil down at half time was bad but things only got worse. Half Time Score 0 - 2

Tom Berry failed to start the 2nd half with a groin strain, which meant we had lost 1 centre back and 1 centre midfield player. Referee gave a very harsh penalty (according to Chiefs back 4) when the ball struck Jamie Bushby on the hard, Anchor converted the spot kick in the 15th minute. 3 nil down and things just got worse. An Anchor player collided with Chiefs Keeper Mark Tattersall, sending him up in the air and he landed heavily on his shoulder, he had to come of so Right Back Martin Ashton took the gloves. Chiefs continued to battle well and then Antony Thorne had to come off with what we thought might be a hamstring problem leaving the Chiefs to battle the last 20 minutes with 10 men. Anchor finished the job off well with 2 more goals in the 27th & 40th minutes.

Chiefs Manager "That has to be the worse night I have had as a manager of this team. Nothing seamed to go right for us. Starting with the mini bus breaking down. The pitch at Torrington was like Blue Tack to play on, very boggy due to a heavy downpour of rain that evening. Loosing 4 players through injury was the ultimate nightmare. The lads that had to play with 10 against Anchor 11 did outstanding well considering, and we still caused them a few problems. Cant take nothing away from the Anchor Boys either, I have seen them play a few times and they played the best I have seen them in a while. The Anchor back 4 were outstanding and controlled the pace well. We did our best with what we had and I am proud of the team for even getting to the Quarter Final of that cup for a Sunday League team. Well Done Chiefs we tryed our best! Congratulations to the Anchor FC and don't worry lads we will be back again......1 day ;) "

Final Score 0 - 5

Anchor Chiefs FC v Stagedoor FC

League Match No. 10

Posted 24/01/2010

Finally a game after waiting 8 weeks with only 2 training sessions. Chiefs started well putting some good football together. Top goal scorer Shaun Hastings bagging his first on the 18th minute. A well worked piece of football lead to Shayne Voisey opening his account for the day on 33 minutes followed by Hastings 2nd a minute later with a fantastic strike at goal. A small loss of concentration by the Chiefs lead to Stagedoor scoring their 1st of the day. Half Time Score 3 - 1.

Second half started well with the Chiefs having some good possession. on the 14th Minute Voisey stuck his 2nd in the net and again on the 21st minute the ball landed perfectly in front of Voisey on the edge of the penalty area which he smashed the ball to the back of the net to land his Hat-Trick. With Wednesday's game in mind, Chiefs manager made 3 Substitutions within minutes of each other and decided to play 3 at the back to carry on applying good pressure on Stagedoor. That pressure paid off when Matt Hatten put the ball in the back of the net on 31 minutes. 2 minutes later Stagedoor struck back with a very scrappy goal and this happened again on the 41st minute.

Chiefs Manager "Considering we have not played a league game in 8 weeks and only managed to get 2 training sessions in I thought we played well today. The back 4 (Martin Ashton, Tom Berry, Ryan Taylor & Jamie Bushby)were solid today and all put in a great shift. Ali Davidson switching rolls with Matt Hatten worked well for both players and our front 2 (Shayne Voisey & Shaun Hastings) did the business today. Roll on our Hansen Cup match on Wednesday. Great Effort today's lads well done!!"

Final Score 6 - 3 (Shaun Hastings 18 & 34, Shayne Voisey 33, 59 & 66, Matt Hatten 76)

Powercuts v Anchor Chiefs FC

League Match No. 9

Posted 13/12/2009

After 5 weeks waiting for a match we finally get one. Good start by both teams showing some half decent football considering neither of us have played for 5 weeks. An early break through for Powercuts on the 13th minute as Ref Tony Cloak awarded a penalty which they converted into a goal. Back fired the Chiefs only to hit the cross bar with a great strike from Shayne Voisey and minutes later a disallowed goal for an offside decision from a very flag happy linesman. A fantastic strike of the ball with great vision from Ali Davidson from the half way line to lobb the keeper but he managed to get his finger tips to it and make the save. The goal finally came after Powercuts tried again for the offside but Mr Cloak knew Shaun Hastings was on side and allowed play to continue, this time Shaun scoring on the 34th minute. Another disallowed goal came again for offside before the half time whistle was blown. Half Time Score 1 - 1

Second half was no different from the first with both teams playing well until a corner was awarded to Powercuts on the 9th minute. With a great volleyed strike by Powercuts off the corner to take the lead again. Again the Chiefs fought back with a 3rd disallowed goal and a fantastic swiveled strike from Matt Beer smashing off the cross bar. The chiefs was pushing hard with a more attacking formation for the last 20 minutes and the equaliser finally came on the 39th minute with a great finish by Shaun Hastings. The Chiefs continued to push for the winner but it never came.

Chiefs Manager "What a day, finally a game at last but 3 disallowed goals, 2 off the cross bar and a debatable penalty I might just rewrite the words to 12 days of christmas, Considering the break we had, the amount of injuries, key players missing I thought we did a outstanding job today. Even the 3 guys coming off the bench did there part today. The penalty early on was a killer, Ryan Taylor got the ball but the angle the Ref was at, I guess he never seen that but that's football and I cant blame the Ref. The amount of offside's even with the 3 disallowed goals was terrible, the lineman had his flag up that many times I thought he was landing a plane. All in all a job well done considering all the factors. Well Done Lads and Roll on the Xmas Party ;-)"

Final Score 2 - 2 (Shaun Hastings 34 & 84)

Man Of The Match:- Antony Thorne

FSID v Anchor Chiefs FC

League Match No. 8

Posted 08/11/2009

All 3 games on Rock Park started with a 1 minute silence in remembrance of the fallen, well done to everyone on the Park as you could have heard a pin drop. The game got underway with a nice solid start by the Chiefs. We had most of the possession but could not find the net yet again. Numerous chances came and went before Shayne Voisey scored on the 26th minute. Rest of the half was all Chiefs but without the end product. Half Time Score 0 - 1

2nd half started a lot quicker again for the Chiefs, on 8 minutes Matt Hatten went bursting into the box and being brought down by the FSID Left Back and a Penalty was awarded. Hatten grabbed the ball, put it on the spot and put it away but the Referee decided that it had to be retaken as someone had gone in the box. So Hatten calmly put the ball back on the spot and put it in the same spot as before, it was almost like a replay. Couple of more chance went by again and on the 21st minute Shaun Hastings got his 1st of the day and then within 2 minutes of the restart he had put away his 2nd with a fantastic spin and shoot which blasted past the keeper. On 27 minutes it was Voisey's turn to get his 2nd of the game. After that it was a free for all and the 2 Chiefs centre backs was at it again trying to get themselves on the score sheet, unfortunately it never happened and with a mixture of poor luck and panic scrambling by FSID they managed to hold the score at 5 nil.

Chiefs Manager " Well done today boys that was a much better overall performance with some fantastic passing and movement. The end product is what is required and what we are missing, I know its hard on a sloppy or sticky pitch but we should have won at least 15 nil. Another 3 points is all that counts and now only 1 point behind the leaders. Well Done Lads!!"

Final Score 0 - 5 (Shayne Voisey 26 & 72, Matt Hatten 53(pen), Shaun Hastings 66 & 68)

Anchor Chiefs FC v FSID

League Match No. 7

What is it with this wind. A solid start by the Chiefs putting FSID under some good pressure. A great ball played to Ali Davidson and a great finish saw the Chiefs take the lead in the 16th Minute. Then disaster struck new signing Shaun Seatherton lost his footing and came down hard on his shoulder. As he landed off the pitch the Referee continued the game while I made sure Shaun was warm and waited for the Ambulance to come. To be honest I was more interested in Shaun's health than the game so I have no idea what happened for the next 20 minutes. Ambulance took Shaun away with a dislocated Shoulder. FSID equalised in the 19th minute and then somehow took the lead 2 minutes later in the 21st minute. We equalised 1 minutes later and then took the lead 2 minutes after that with both goals coming from Chiefs top scorer Shaun Hastings. Sorry I don't have more information but an injured player was my priority not this match report. Half Time Score 3 - 2

After telling the lads we are making this game harder than we need to do, the lads was fired up and ready to go. Man of the Match Hastings banging in his Hat-Trick in the 13 minute. A lapse of concentration by the entire team so FSID pull one back in the 14th minute but that was the end of FSID, the Chiefs stepped it up a gear and saw Shayne Voisey Scoring his first in the 18th minute and his 2nd in the 26th minute followed by Hastings bagging his 4th in the 28th minute. After that we just missed everytime, even the Chiefs Center Backs where bursting forward and having a go.

Chiefs Manager "We was not at our best again today, although we did have a good final scoreline that did not reflect the game. I am almost convinced we cant play in the wind. I think the problem was sometimes it was too easy and we was making it harder than we needed too. Credit to the FSID front 2, they played very well between them and never gave up on their cause. Its another 3 points though lads and we are out of the minus goal difference so well done for that."

Final Score 7 - 3 (Ali Davidson 16, Shaun Hastings 22, 24, 58 & 73, Shayne Voisey 63 & 71)

Stagedoor v Anchor Chiefs FC

League Match No. 6

Posted 25/10/2009

If anything like last years trip to Ilfracombe is to go by we was in for a battle and how true that was. 12.30 kick off was nice but using the pitch straight after another match is not good. The wind was unreal and killed what could have been a great game into one almighty mess. Nothing much to say about the fist half except a mixture of the wind, bad pitch and a offside flag stopped us from going at least 5 nil up. We did manage to get 1 goal in the 13th minute with a well taken strike by Matt Beer. Half Time Score 0 - 1

Second half was worse than the first with a poor performance from the Chiefs. Although we could have had another load of goals, it was all against us today, hitting the post twice did not help. It was a bad day for us today but we came through for the 3 points.

Chiefs Manager "What can I say, it was bound to happen 1 day and today was that day, we was very poor today. The small pitch all soggy and turned over from the match right before us, the wind and a poor performance is why it was only 1 nil. Fair play to the Stagedoor boys they put in a good shift today and tried to get something out of the game. I am just glad we got the 3 points so its not a complete disaster"

Final Score 0 - 1 (Matt Beer 13)

Man Of The Match:- Matt Beer

Anchor Chiefs FC v Powercuts

League Match No. 5

Posted 18/10/2009

After a great result on Wednesday in the Hansen cup we was of to a great start from the whistle, the Chiefs got their passing game together but could not find that finishing touch. On form keeper Mark Tattersall found himself with a 1 on 1 with the Powercuts striker and made himself too big for the striker to handle with a fantastic blocked shot. Good movement from all the team and with plenty of the possession, how we never opened the scoring in the 1st half I just don’t know. Half Time Score 0 - 0

Half time team talk was nothing more then just settle down early and relax, we will get that goal and sure enough we did. A fantastic strike from Chiefs leading goal scorer and man of the match, Shaun Hastings netting a goal in the 1st minute of play. Again we was pushing hard with plenty of the possession but again Powercuts caught us on the break but the Chiefs keeper was just too much for him yet again. We knew 1 more goal and the flood gates will open but it was just one of those days and the final touches was letting us down. After Rikki Kelly who was already carrying a minor injury had to come off, Shaun Hastings was pushed back to Centre Back and shown why he was the man of the match with a solid performance at the back as well. Finally that 2nd goal came but in the 89th minute from Shayne Voisey who beat the keeper one on one and slotted home the Chiefs 2nd and final goal.

Chiefs Manager "Fantastic effort from the entire team today and some great football too. Today was one of those days when that final ball just does not make the journey. It was always going to be hard to match the performance we put in against Lions but we did enough to secure the 3 points and move to 4th in the league. Well done Lads!"

Final Score 2 - 0 (Shaun Hastings 46 & Shayne Voisey 89)

Hansen Cup 1st Round

Posted 14/10/2009

It’s the Hansen Cup 1st round tie and thanks to Torrington for lettings us use their pitch and floodlights. This was something new for the Chiefs, Wednesday evening football under floodlights on a very nice pitch; the lads thought it was cup final day for them. Both teams started well and it was all end to end football but nothing was getting passed the Chiefs defence line. A great solo effort on the 36th minute so Shaun Hastings burst passed the lions right back from inside his own half and take the ball three quarters of the way up the pitch and score a fantastic goal. We could not believe was we was winning, everyone had us down as the Sunday League under dogs against the Intermediate 2 team and last years Hansen Cup finalists. Some great build up play followed before Matt Hatten scored an absolute screamer on the 40th minute. Great half for the Chiefs. Half Time Score 2 - 0

Second half so Lions trying to come out strong but we weathered the small storm and started fighting back with some amazing football. On the 25th minute Chiefs Striker Shayne Voisey hit the back of the net giving us a 3 nil lead and 4 minutes later Hastings bagged his 2nd goal as Voisey unselfishly played the ball across the box for Hastings to smashing in the net. Lions did manage to get a goal on the 31st minute with a very well played move that broke the Chiefs defence for the first time. That did not stop the Chiefs’ Substitute Ali Davidson got himself in the box and was in the right place at the right time for an easy tap in goal. Lions were awarded a penalty but Chiefs on form keeper Mark Tattersall pulled of a great save.

Chiefs Manager "Tonight was the night that I had visioned over 2 years ago when starting this team, everyone had us down as the under dogs against last year beaten Hansen Cup finalists. We took the momentum from the Athletico match and just played the football I always knew we could do. Everyone should have been man of the match tonight, the whole squad put in a great shift and shown everyone that we can actual play very well. My left back Jamie Bushby was outstanding tonight and deserved that man of the match. Well Done Chiefs, you was all amazing tonight"

Final Score 5 - 1 (Shaun Hastings 37 & 75, Matt Hatten 40, Shayne Voisey 60, Ali Davidson 82)

Anchor Chiefs FC v Athletico Borough FC

League Match No.4

Posted 04/10/2009

As expected a solid start form Athletico Borough but this time the Chiefs knew what to expect. Solid defending by the Chiefs back 4 and some great keeping by Mark Tattersall, Chiefs keeper stopped Athletico in their tracks. Chiefs were playing some good football in return, unlike the county cup match the Chiefs players were closing them down a lot quicker and hustling for ever ball. Athletico Borough then went to 10 men after one of their players was given a straight red for swearing at Referee Colin Selly. Half Time Score 0 - 0

Second half with so much more open football by both teams, even with 10 men Athletico Borough are still a good team and some seriously great goal keeping from man of the match Mark Tattersall kept the chiefs in the game. It was end to end football for over 30 minutes until the Chiefs go the break through they deserved with a goal from Shaun Hastings on the 37th minute. Athletico came straight back with a goal on the 41st minute, although the Chiefs claimed the ball did not cross the line and was scrambled away, Referee Colin Selly gave it as a goal. Chiefs were very disappointed by that but they carried on but could not find that winner.

Chiefs Manager "Today every player put in a good shift, the only way we was going to get something from this game was to hustle for every ball, close them down quickly and play are hearts out and that is exactly what we did. I am disappointed by the equalising goal but at the end of the day we have to respect the decision of the Referee even if we think it is wrong. Goal Keeper Mark Tattersall was outstanding today and has improved so much from last season. For a player to have only ever player Keeper for his second season he is doing outstanding well. Well done lads, shame we had the draw but we did the business today and I am happy with that."

Another local derby but with the Chiefs being let down by 3 starting players, it was time for the lads on the bench to put a shift in. The new look Robins are a lot stronger this year and have put together a great squad of players. Robins pushed strong straight from the start but the Chiefs makeshift back line held strong until Robins got their first goal on the 37th minute. Some sloppy play by the Chiefs soon awarded Robins another goal on the 40th minute. First Half Score 0 - 2

2nd Half was no different from the first, Robins new players putting some fantastic football together and the Chiefs defensive line holding strong but it took 27 minutes for Robins to grab their 3rd. Again another quick slip up by the Chiefs gave Robins their 4th on 31 minutes. Chiefs tried hard towards the end to grab a goal but it all came to nothing.

Chiefs Manager "Well done to the Robins, the new look team are a great bunch of players. I thought the Chiefs Back 5 did a fantastic job to hold the score line to 4. Keeper Mark Tattersall had another great game and out of position Shaun Hastings deserved his man of the match for a great performance at the back. I am happy with the whole 11 players as they all tried but was out played by a better and more experienced bunch of players. Well done Robins!"

Final Score 0 - 4

Man Of The Match:- Shaun Hastings

Anchor Chiefs FC v Athletico Borough FC

County Cup

Posted 13/09/2009

A great day for a County Cup match but it was not a good day for the Anchor Chiefs. We was under pressure from almost the start but was holding strong. Chiefs were giving as good as they got until the 9th minute when a free kick was blasted in from Athletico Borough which went straight through the Chiefs keeper. Chiefs were holding their own but then a great move from Athletico got them their 2nd on 38 minute. First Half 0 - 2

2nd Half was no different from the first, Athletico putting some fantastic football together and the Chiefs defensive line holding strong but it only took 11 minutes for Athletico to grab their 3rd. A fantastic performance from Chiefs Keeper Mark Tattersall more than made up for his early mistake. Another goal from Athletico on the 28th minute saw then take a 4 nil lead but this did not stop the Chiefs from having a go, the final 20 minutes of the game was a good bit of pressure from the Chiefs but unfortunately nothing came out of it for us.

Chiefs Manager "Good effort lads but at the end of the day we was beaten by the better team. I personally feel they are way to strong for the Sunday League Division 2 considering the 10 outfield players all play Saturday football, its not exactly Sunday League standards. It was a great experience for you all to play against a quality side and we will play them again in 2 league games, so I hope this experience has learnt us something. The whole team put in a great shift today, the back 4 and Keeper was outstanding. Chin up lads, lesson learnt!"

Final Score 0 - 4

Real Tuff FC v Anchor Chiefs FC

League Match No.01

Posted 06/09/2009

First game of the season and it's against our friends and local derby competitors Real Tuff FC. The game started well for both teams as they settled into the first game of the season. A defensive clearance that went backwards causing the Chiefs a early headache as it landed right in front of the Real Tuff player who put the ball past the Chiefs keeper in the 5th minute. Chiefs continued to push on and with both teams putting together some good football. In typical first game style many chances we had was not being put away. Half Time Score 1 - 0

After a stern talking to at half time, the Chiefs players knew exactly what needed to be done. Another good start for the Chiefs but then out of the blue the worst thing happened, Real Tuff bagged their second goal in the 8th minute. The lads held there heads high and started to play like I knew we was capable of. it did not take long for Shaun Hastings to get the Chiefs of the mark with a well taken shot in the 11th minute. A handball shout on the 24th minute was given and penalty awarded to the Chiefs, Shaun Hastings stepping up and confidently putting the ball past the Tuff keeper. The momentum was definitely now with the Anchor Chiefs, so great passing and movement was finished of we a goal from Shayne Voisey in the 30th minute. A penalty area scramble and a shot from Voisey ended up with a Real Tuff unfortunately putting the ball in the back of his own net on the 35th minute.

Chiefs Manager Mick Tattersall " Firstly I would like to thank Jamie and the Real Tuff boys for teaching us a valuable lesson in not taking a game to lightly. After beating Real Tuff 7 nil in a preseason friendly they turned out today a much better team with a couple of new faces. Hats off to Jamie, the team did well mate. Well Done to the Chiefs, you never let your heads drop even though it seamed like everything was going against us ever scoring. You continued to play well and the 2nd half was fantastic. "

Final Score 2 - 4 (Shaun Hastings 56 & 69(pen), Shayne Voisey 75, Own Goal 80)
